SHHHHHHHHHHH! A Walter Lantz Cartoon!

One of my all time favorite Lantz Cartoons Directed By The Great Tex Avery. Some people love it, some people don't get it. I think it's terrific because of it's simple concept. Enjoy!

One of those I saw at a very young age and it never left me!

According to Joe Adamsons' Book Tex Avery: King Of Cartoons, Tex thought that he would have a winner of a cartoon with this famous laughing record. As I recall, he didn't think it worked the way he wanted to. I've seen Shhhhh quite a few times and I think it's still a funny cartoon and not just because of the laughing record. The designs are funny, the concept is funny, animation is funny...even the eye blinks! They're funny eye blinks!

I saw this a few times when I was a kid on Cartoon Network (around 1997 they ran Lantz cartoons for few months). One of my favorites.

Definitely a good one. You knew all his attempts were going to backfire, but not once did I guess how. That's some creative stuff there (I especially liked the under-the-door moving of the X marking the spot of the safe drop. Didn't expect that at all).

I wish there were more things like this these days... Well, guess it's up to us to make them, eh?
