Dog and His Master....
Here's some drawings of a cartoon series I was developing for myself.
As you can see, I was deliberately going for a Tex Avery, Hanna/Barbera look with funny looking designs and weird facial expressions. I think this would have worked when Funny Cartoons were appreciated, but sadly, if it can't play like an average live action sitcom, most of the execs wouldn't buy it.
Maybe I'll still produce it as an internet cartoon though...

Once again, great stuff, Brian! I don't know why everything has to play like a sitcom today. Everyone seems to like 2X4's as characters.
Because to do REAL cartoons, you have to let cartoonists write them...and that would prove to be a problem to all those who want to control them.
Everything I once loved about animated cartoons has been removed from the medium. So now were stuck with these cardboard cutout animated series that stink to high heaven.
Thank god that Looney Toons, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Woody Woodpecker, Tom, Jerry and Droopy have all found there way to DVD....otherwise there'd be no cartoons for me to watch!
Agreed!!!
I can almost hear Paul Lynde doing the voice of the guy in that second set of drawings. Or maybe Charles Nelson Reilly. Sadly, neither of them is available any more...
Bob,
That's very perceptive.
Actually, Paul Lynde was very much on my mind, when I did that second set of drawings. This is probably due to the fact that I was watching The Perils Of Penelope Pitstop series around the same time that I did these drawings.
It's funny how things like that invade your drawings.
Lynde was a great voice talent (even though it was only that one voice) and he could make you laugh with the way he delivered a line.
Mr.Mitchell,
Love the Paul Lynn guy.Thats a great design! You still have that wonderful flow to your lines.Hope you animate this.Be well,
Tony D
Thanks for the nice comments Tony.
I'm going to do a few different character things and animate them for online. Most will be limited animation, but the drawings should be fun and the stories should be interesting.
Thanks for posting and Happy Holidays!
Brian
